Sitting in a data center room at IBM's Sterling Forst, New York facility. I'm with three other guys doing a disaster recovery test incase the Ohio or the ADS HQ get blown to bits. Actually I am kind of glad I live in Ohio now since I'm pretty sure terrorists see nothing worthwhile here. It's not only because of terrorism though, it's also to compensate for bad weather or a fire. It's kind of neat being here I guess. The security is rediculous. Almost every door has a little keypad, and when you press the start button it randomly assigns numbers to the buttons on the keypad everytime. It's pretty nifty, except for the fact that the LEDs seem like they were made in the 60s so you have to duck down about a foot and a half to properly view the keys.
Oh yes, how I got here......took a ride on one of the corporate jets. They're really nice to say the least and it was beautiful just staring out the window at the view. I took a decent amount of pics with my cell phone, I wish now I had brought my digital camera along, but oh well.
I've been done for about 2 hours now as far as getting my server up and running. Now I have to wait until around 9PM for our AS/400 system to get restored and then I can test the data transfer connections and I'm done. At least I get to stay at one of those pimp ass Homewood Suites for the night.
Well, I'm sure I will write again as I am bored as hell.
