Looks like the senate wants all TV stations to be broadcasting in digital by 2009. Why this is important is because it frees up lower frequencies that old analog TV used to broadcast on. What would we use these frequencies for? Well one part is for emergency services for the government but the bigger thing is using them for data transmission/internet access. The amount of wireless coverage we could acheive if using these frequencies would be crazy and the internet would be available almost everywhere and you could integrate it into everyday things/devices more easily and open up endless possibilities for the future.
